If you think Blockchain technology was only about cryptocurrencies, you might want to consider it again as it’s about to disrupt travel industry.
I have seen numerous talks about how revolutionary blockchain is. Some even say that the disruption that comes with that technology will affect us as powerfully as the invention of the Internet. I always remember how excited I was when I first heard about it in a podcast. But I’ve never really seen a concrete application of blockchain in anything else than crypto-currencies, until I stepped on this article published on by Indrek Lasn on Hackernoon.
So what is it?
TravelChain gives accessible and authentic smart data to let businesses know their clients better, so the travelers can experience the best customer service. And because it’s developed based on blockchain, this platform is totally decentralized.
What does it mean for the traveler?
On the platform, travelers will be able to get paid in TravelTokens by sharing their data with companies. And it is entirely up to them to choose the type of information they want to share, by authorizing to collect data from another mobile app (for example Uber).
TravelToken (TT) is the crypto currency used inside of TravelChain ecosystem.
Once the user’s data is stored in the decentralized database, companies will have the opportunity to buy information. Thanks to the structured information they pull out from the exchange platform, these companies can improve their services and products, and work on guest-centric products in order to enhance the traveler’s experience.
What about the companies?
The travel industry is mainly (digitally) dominated by big fishes. TravelChain is challenging them by providing individual custom services to the little guys…like you and me.
Developers are also part of the game
And more than players, they are the game changers in this ecosystem. In fact, TravelChain is an open source platform. Therefore, the community of developers will be a key part of the sustainability of this project through time.
